Welcome to the Menopot Meltdown!

Over the next 5 days of this challenge, you're going to keep track of how many grams of protein you are getting each day. Don't worry about total calories, just focus on protein.

How much protein should you be having? Use the protein calculator above to determine your needs.

Now you're just going to shoot for that goal. I think you're going to be surprised when you see how much protein you actually get each day. It's a real eye-opener.

It is not unusual for women who are experiencing weight gain and belly fat in menopause to only be consuming 50-70 grams of protein per day, in fact this is very common!

To track your protein, I recommend MyFitnessPal, it’s a free app and it’s easy to use. https://www.myfitnesspal.com/ Just log in your meals for each day and you'll be able to see how much protein you are getting.

Why focus on protein? Protein is essential for building and maintaining muscle, keeping your metabolism running efficiently, and promoting satiety. As women age, our bodies have a tendency to store fat in the midsection area, leading to the dreaded "menopot." By increasing your protein intake, you can help combat this effect and support a leaner, stronger physique.

Not only will focusing on protein help with weight management, but it can also improve overall health. Protein plays a crucial role in many bodily functions such as hormone production, immune system function, and repairing tissues. By ensuring adequate protein intake, you're supporting your body's ability to function at its best.

With all the benefits that protein offers, it's important to make sure we're including it in our meals and snacks throughout the day. Some great sources of protein include lean meats such as chicken, turkey, and fish, as well as a plant-based option like quinoa or edamame. Greek yogurt and protein powder is my staple.
